It’s almost that time of year again, for the 2019 Mile High Expo at Mile High Stadium! This is the largest promotional product show in the region and we are thrilled to have many new exhibitors and products this year. Mark your calendars, as Chris Morrissey will be leading an education session at 9:00am (see description below). We have a special addition this year - Puppies! The Denver Dumb Friends League will be bringing 5-6 dogs for people to meet! If you fall in love with one of them, you can contact the DDFL after the show to discuss adoption. And if you have never gone on the VIP Stadium Tour, this is your year! You’ll have behind the scenes access to the field, training room, visitor's locker room and more! Lastly, don’t forget to pick up your tickets for the Closing Party Reception. The topic is focused on how scammers are learning our industry, how it works and how they can use technology to take advantage of both distributors and suppliers. For years their efforts have been limited to an easily identifiable stock email where the message barely changed from one email to the next. Now they are using a wide range of deceptive tactics including successfully imitating supplier email addresses with invoice attachments that will load ransomware on your system.
Over the last 18 months, they have become very active and not always easy to identify. My goal is to educate the industry on how to protect yourself from the current methods being used. Those who subscribe to my blog will stay up to date on new scams as they are discovered.
Chris Morrissey is a third generation owner of their family distributorship. Prior to joining the family business Chris spent eight years in corporate theft and fraud investigations, having built over 2000 cases which were successfully prosecuted.
